Overview

Mindfulness is a way of engaging with whatever is happening in your life, a way of taking charge, a way of being, that enables you to face the challenges and demands of everyday life, whether simply working or bringing up a family or coping with pain, stress and chronic illness.’ (V. Burch, 2010)

When we are mindful, rather than being driven by our habits, we are able to make choices and live with awareness. We learn how to paying attention to our experience in its wholeness. This includes knowing what we are thinking, feeling emotionally and what is happening in the body. We do this in each present moment rather than being caught up in fears for the future, and regrets about the past.

The practice of mindfulness draws from ancient techniques such as meditation and qi-gong combined with modern CBT strategies to achieve a higher quality of life.
